Wouldn’t it be great if some day you could just sit and play video games all day and earn a living off it? It’s a reality for a select few.
One of those select few is Jamie Bateson who is paid to play FIFA all day.
The former mechanic simply posts his FIFA exploits on his YouTube channel and watches the views, and the money, come rolling in. Continue
He has 742,472 loyal subscribers to his Bateson87 YouTube channel and has amassed a ridiculous 168,456,254 views to date.
“I used to work at Stagecoach in Kendal as a HGV vehicle mechanic but then a network contacted me from America and wanted to partner my channel. When I said I was leaving Stagecoach a lot of people there laughed because they didn’t realise how I could be making money but my family were really supportive – even though they didn’t know what I was doing! Now, loads of people around the world know what I do, but nobody in Kendal does.”
The Liverpool fan offers people tips and advice on the game and has 2000 regular viewers who tune in 12 hours a day, seven days a week to watch him play.
His star has risen so high, Jamie has even been allowed to play on the hallowed Wembley turf the day after FA Cup Final day and often travels the world meeting people at gaming conventions.
“I’m not an egotistical person. I like staying in Kendal because I’m not as well known. When I first started, YouTube and FIFA wasn’t exploding like it is today, but because I was there quite early I could ride the wave and that wave is still going now," he told The Mirror.
Why can't someone just give me a job like this?
