In yet another dramatic twist in the Eva Carneiro vs Chelsea saga, it is being reported that the former Blues physio could ask Eden Hazard to come forward as a witness when her claim against the Premier League champions goes to court, next year.
Carneiro left her position at Stamford Bridge after being publicly chastised, alongside colleague Jon Fearn, by Jose Mourinho for being "impulsive and naive" during Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Swansea on the opening day of the season. Continue
Carneiro and Fearn rushed onto the pitch when Hazard appeared to ask for medical attention, leaving Chelsea temporarily with nine men, as goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois had already been dismissed. Mourinho verbally attacked Carneiro before suspending her of several of her duties, including attending the team hotel before matches.
The Belgian winger is the only person who can confirm whether or not he demanded the assistance of Carneiro and Fearn, which means he may be compelled to give evidence at the tribunal, alongside Mourinho himself, who will apparently be subject to an individual claim by Carneiro as part of a tactical ploy that would also force Mourinho to give evidence. However, it is believed the Portuguese manager has a bombshell to drop should that happen.
It will be interesting to see what the reaction to Hazard's potential witness statement will be, should he concur with Carneiro's story, thus likely landing his club and manager in a lot of hot water.
Why isn't Jon Fearn taking action too?
