All you need to know about Manchester City and United target Gabriel Jesus

Gabriel Fernando de Jesus (born 3 April 1997), known as Gabriel Jesus, is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Palmeiras as a forward. He was voted the best newcomer of the 2015 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, a year in which he also helped his team win the Copa do Brasil.
Due to his style of play and talent, Jesus has been dubbed the "new Neymar" by the media.
At international level, he was part of the Brazilian team that came runners-up at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He is also part of the host team at the 2016 Olympics. Continue to see his fact file

Born: Sao Paulo, Brazil
Age: 19
Position: Striker
Current team: Palmeiras
International team: Brazil under-23 (four caps, three goals)

Where did Gabriel Jesus come from?

Growing up in a suburb north of Sao Paulo, Jesus learned his early skills playing football on the city's uneven concrete streets.
He soon got involved with the amateur scene and sufficiently impressed at Associacao Atletica Anhanguera to catch the eye of Palmeiras’ scouts.
The striker had an immediate impact at the club, racking up 54 goals in 48 appearances in his first season in the youth team.

How many goals has Jesus scored?

Jesus won a first-team contract last year and was given his debut in March 2015.
Since then he has made a total of 54 league appearances for the club and scored 19 times, including six in his last five games in Serie A helping Palmeiras to the top of the Brazilian league.

How does he play?

The Brazilian media’s excitement over the player spiked after his performances at the 2015 Under-20 World Cup, even if he was unable to prevent a 2-1 defeat in the final by Serbia.
He has been compared to fellow Brazilian Robinho due to standing at 5 ft 9 in and his skilful trickery with the ball at his feet.
But he is also deceptively strong and holds the ball up well even against bigger and stronger players, a quality which has led some pundits to suggest he could succeed in the Premier League.
